International Baccalaureate (IB)

Washington International School in Taichung (officially authorized as Washington High School) is an IB World School authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).

The IB Diploma Programme is an internationally recognized curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and academic rigor.

Advanced Placement (AP)

WIST is an official provider of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the AP Capstone Diploma for Senior High School students. AP courses, administered by the College Board, offer academically motivated students opportunities to engage in college-level learning while still in high school.

The AP Capstone Diploma further emphasizes research, analysis, collaboration, and communication skills, supporting students as they prepare for university-level expectations.

Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

Washington International School in Taichung is a Candidate for Accreditation. Approved by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC).

This candidacy status applies to grades 7–12 and signifies that the school is actively engaged in an ongoing school improvement and accreditation process focused on institutional effectiveness and student learning.

College Board Testing Center (PSAT & SAT)

WIST is an official on-campus testing center for the PSAT and SAT examinations.

The College Board is a mission-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to higher education. Through programs such as the SAT, AP, and college readiness resources, the College Board supports millions of students worldwide each year. Hosting PSAT and SAT exams on campus allows WIST students to test in a familiar, supportive environment.

Child Safeguarding Recognition

WIST has been formally recognized for its commitment to child protection through participation in Child Safeguarding Awareness training for employees and volunteers. This recognition reflects the school’s dedication to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. All staff and volunteers are trained to understand safeguarding responsibilities, follow clear procedures, and uphold the highest standards of student welfare.
