WIST Wins Dual Awards and Earns Scholarship Recognition at the 9th Project Contest, Showcasing Its Project Excellence on the International Stage

WIST delivered outstanding results at the 9th Project Contest, an international academic competition hosted by UK universities, securing 1st place in the Social Science category and 2nd place in the STEM category, along with scholarship recognition in the final round. These achievements highlight students’ academic excellence and strong global competitiveness.

Gabriel, who won first place in the Social Science category, focused his research on aging societies. He proposed an innovative integrated model combining nursing homes and kindergartens, promoting intergenerational interaction to reduce loneliness among the elderly while enhancing children’s emotional development. Gabriel shared that his idea was inspired by observing the living conditions of elderly family members, and he hopes to advocate for more human-centered long-term care policies to improve overall social well-being.

In the STEM category, a team consisting of Jason, Winfred, and Wesley earned second place for their impressive performance. Their project explored the application of artificial intelligence in education, conducting an experimental study with fifth-grade students to compare robot-assisted teaching and traditional teaching methods in English-based science learning. Despite challenges such as low student engagement and technical operation issues, the team successfully improved learning motivation and experimental quality by implementing incentive mechanisms and optimizing instructional design. Their work received high praise from the judges, who remarked, “You’re the future data scientist!”

WIST’s curriculum is built around Project-Based Learning (PBL), guiding students through a structured process from topic ideation and research design to final presentation. The program emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis, and hands-on application, helping students refine their research frameworks and communication skills. This approach not only strengthens academic foundations but also significantly enhances students’ confidence and competitiveness in international competitions.

Principal Liu Yi-Hsin stated that students’ achievements in international project competitions demonstrate both academic depth and practical application abilities. Moving forward, WIST will continue to refine its research programs and international alignment, supporting students in conducting socially impactful research while nurturing globally minded talents equipped with both humanistic values and technological literacy.
